Trick or Treat!

I'm so in love with party ideas these days... Halloween, Thanksgiving, Fall parties, Christmas is soon... and I've been seeing a lot of these little cake pops.
What a wonderful idea for kids. I mean, I know my kids are not huge cake eaters so something like this is about their portion size and so much more fun to eat.

Anyways, I was wondering how you bake these little treats... until I found an easy tutorial (I can't find the link for the life of me now). Here is a link from Home Made Simple for everyone try try cake pops and how to decorate them. They look so cute and SPOOKY! Picture is linked.
Have fun!

Spooktacular Haunted Ideas

Anyone getting in the crafty moody these days? I am... infact, I'm getting my hands dirty this evening carving pumpkins with the girls. Who doesn't love getting in that squishy slimy mess... it just screams Halloween. Last year the girls didn't even want to touch the insides of the pumpkin so we'll see how it goes this year.

I've been all excited about Halloween this year. When we lived in Italy the last 2 1/2 years we missed out on the festivities and trick-or-treating as they don't really celebrate it over there. Carnivale is their big dress up holiday.

We have our costumes (thanks the my niece Miss M) and we have our window clings up (I have some new ones for the girls to put up tonight). I bought some cool Halloween socks and some book for treat bags (because they get enough candy elsewhere I figured).

Anyways, I was checking my email and saw this cool idea in my inbox. On the CK blog, they have a cool tutorial on how to make a super cool haunted house out of scrapping paper. It's so cute, it's almost pretty! So what are you waiting for? Click on the pict to go to the link page! Happy crafting!

I'm Not FREE Mommy!

Kids are like mini comedians!

The other day hubby met me after work with the girls to go grocery shopping... I'm thinking it'll be easier if they stay at the playground while I shop but oh well.

We arrive at the store. Open the door and they are practically off! Miss B runs to grab the cart and Miss S is a few feet behind as usual. Miss B insists on pushing the cart so I try to guide the cart without her noticing (and without racks of food falling to the ground as well.)

Halfway through the store an all is going well I think to myself... yep! What in the heck did I just do? YEP! Jinxed it! Miss B starts getting a little faster and a little on the wobbly side. Miss S is agging her on to go faster followed by giggling.

And around the corner it's Miss B in the lead... it was like watching nascar on a Sunday afternoon.

I'm thinking "Oh my gosh! They are turning into those other people's kids!!!" STOP IT! I try to say in that quiet, yet I'm-going-to-strangle-you-if-you-hit-anyone tone.... yep if you are a mom you know that one.... that look comes out a lot when shopping.

So I'm trying to stay calm... hubby is all relaxed and not even watching the girls. Speeds increasing and around another corner!

Right into the owner's cart. Luckily it's a small town. I grew up here. He grew up here. We both have kids. I smile and say, "Did you need a few more kids? They are for sale!" He chuckles and says, "Oh they are for sale are they?" I respond with, "Well, actually they are FREE!"
Miss B standing infront of me and holding onto the NAS-CART, looks at me and says,

"Mommy! I'm not FREE!"
"I'm FOUR!"

We both burst out laughing.... yep, I'm pretty sure he had a good story to go home and tell his wife. I know the people in our house that night and the people at work the next day sure got a chuckle.
Oh Miss B... you are entertaining!

Crazy Weekend at Hotel M

Hotel M was packed full this weekend with a housefull of crazy family members. Kids running about and football games on tv. It was seriously a mad house.

It was our belated Thanksgiving weekend cram packed into 1 1/2 days. I think my neice and nephew could really only handle a day and a half with my girls glued to their sides. Bella was stuck to M's side like glue playing video games or just watching him play video games. Miss S was running around playing with Miss M all weekend, following her every move like a shadow with a ginormous grin.

Turkey and ham were served, stuffing, orange jello with mandarine oranges (as requested by the Divine Miss M)and of course... the family tradition... lefse (I hope I spelled that right). Bellies were stuffed to the gills and then the pies and cheesecakes came out. Goodness! It actually took this gal 45 minutes to finish a piece of yummy, much missed, pumpkin pie with whipped cream. I haven't had the opportunity to have pumpkin pie for 2 1/2 years as we lived in Italy... nor turkey, nor stuffing.... yes I was in heaven!

Lucky for us we decided to do our photo shoot before we added 5 lbs to our waistlines! My sis T hasn't had new family photos taken in about 4 or 5 years so we all organized to get it done provided we had decent weather. Well, it was nice enough and as I had to cancel my previous photoshoot with Mrs. D Photography, I thought why not get some photos done of us as well. It's almost impossible to get the girls and hubby organized and behaving enough to shoot a few picts so the ones we got I will have to be happy with. Sis T's turned out much better as I'm a tad more camera experienced than she is. Thank goodness for photo editing. So if that all wasn't enough in a weekend, Sunday we also had a little girls birthday party to go to. Miss B was turning 5 and we were invited to come party. Several little girls running about giggling and screaming was a great release of energy for my wee ones. After that we stopped at the rink to watch the local girls hockey team play a game. Well, I didn't do much watching of any hockey girls, just a lot of "where'd the girls go?" kind of looking. 2 clumsy girls + cement arena stairs = a recipe for some crying and a possible visit to the hospital. We did however make it out of the rink without even a scratch and 2 little girls asleep before we even left town.

It was nice actually not fighting anyone to go to bed for a change... and earlier than usual might I add. Of course, the extra free time I gained with the kids in bed were quickly eaten up buy orders that had to be filled from the shop. Not too bad, Vin Diesel was on in the meantime giving me moments of mindless entertainment.

Yep, it was a pretty good weekend... hope next weekend is fun too.

Thanksgiving Roundup

I hope everyone had a great Canadian Thanksgiving this last weekend.

We are celebrating ours this coming weekend. We all had things going on so we decided to bump it back a weekend.

Our family was busy doing a Walk to Cure Diabetes for JDRF. My BFF has Diabetes and we've done this walk for years and every year we have a great time. It's a great excuse for us besties to get together and now it's a great excuse to get our kids together for a playdate. All the kids had a great time! B was busy scooting on her scooter almost the whole 5 km. That's a lot of scooting and walking for a little 4 year old. I on the other hand, got a good workout pulling 2 kidlets around. we had a few wee ones swaping out in the wagon but it was especially funny when Lil' Big Man (my BFF's son) was in the wagon with S. All the giggling going on was so cute. Then at the end of the day, Lil' Big Man and Miss S had to kiss and hug it out. So adorable!

I've also been busy crocheting up a few hats to sell this fall/winter ANd doing up card orders. I finally got a chance to do up some Calendars. They were missing from our shop last year as I just didn't have the time to get any finished. I'm hoping to add a few more soon.

Here's 2 I have listed already:

The top calendar comes with a variety of coloured flowers to choose from.

Winner of a HBC Gift Card...

So I promised to all my donators that after the JDRF Walk on the weekend I would put everyone's names into a hat and draw a winner for my incentive prize (a $40 HBC gift card if we reached the $500 mark.)

Well, I enlisted the help of Franz at work to pick a name out of the hat... and he picked...

Tammy Fawns!

Yay! Congrats and thank you so much everyone for helping me reach my fundraising goal.

We had a great time doing the Walk. The weather was beautiful, the kids behaved AND had fun... plus, a jolly old fella stopped by and brought his Mrs. with him to meet all the kids.... yes, it was the Big Man himself... Ol' St. Nick. The kids were pretty happy and we wish we knew as we would have brought our wish lists.

It's Monday folks!

Ok, so I know, everyone is looking at their screens with eyes half open wishing the weekend could be just that tiny bit longer.

I know Mondays are usually sluggish for me so that's why I'm adding another treasury. This one has a lot of ideas for any mommies throwing a ballerina party. We have invites, tags, cupcake toppers, clippies (oh so cute ballerina slipper clippies), necklaces, prints and tutus of course. Get your ballerina groove on and throw a smashing fun party!

Photographers Are Superheros

Ah.... the photos look so sweet and innocent... two lil' munchkins playing with their kitty (ok so giant fat cat)... now if you only knew what it takes to get one of these photos taken!

Genuine hard work and sweat goes into these photos folks. If you are a parent, you'll understand me. On is looking at the camera oh so nice while you are practically standing on your head juggling 3 balls to get the other to even remotely look in your direction. "SMILE!" I yell... to be followed by the harmonious repeating of "CHEESE!!!" Miss Dimples is usually the one I have to work hard to get a smile out of. She's usually looking the other way or fig=dgetting with something. Miss LaLa is always on the hunt these days for the cats so if one of those fur balls runs in the distance she's up and on the chase.

This is our way of doing a fall photo session in our house. As you read before, our photo session was cancelled due to unforseen monsoon weather. I'm trying to get some cute picts of my ladies in before our cram session with my photog friend D. I have to break this process up into days just to keep my sanity... in the end I'm happy with a few of the photos and will hopefully get enough of each Miss to hand out at Christmas. Here's a few from last night.
