Away on a Vacay!
Wow! What a busy few days I just had and I was on vacation.
V A C A T I O N.
It was a whirlwind of running here and there and traffic and excitement and giggles (and yes a few stressful moments).
I had a few days off of work and packed up the kids and headed south to my sister’s for a few days. Our schedule: Calgary Zoo, Olds Pool and whatever else we could find to do and keep the kids busy. We did! Or, let me rephrase that. My kids kept her kids busy…. And tired.
We did the zoo early enough to see the NEW penguin exhibit ( and only had to wait in line for 30 minutes!)
Saw pretty northern Canadian birds, wolves, cougars and elephants. Gloria the hippo was outside sunning herself with a friend so she was easy to spot and the giraffe was busy having a snack inside. Adorable little black and white monkeys gave us a chuckle at how cute they were napping on a log. It was a great visit to the zoo. I highly recommend it!
We also did the pool at Olds and I have to give a shout out to Miss S first off as we finally persuaded her to try the big waterside all by herself just once… and she did it…. She flipped around a few times before reaching the bottom but she did it. Isabella was a pro at it. Waving and smiling at us every time she flew down it.
We also did a few backyard water fights which I’m surprised Miss S got enjoyment out of.
It was a great couple of days off Now it’s back to the grind and opening up of the shop!

Under the Sea...
That's where I want to be right now.... laying on the beach, hearing the surf hit the sandy beach.... a mermaid life for me.
I quite enjoyed havinf the opportunity to enjoy the sea on our vacations when living in Italy. I'm a Canadian prairie girl so sand is what you find in the kids sand box to me. Our version of the sea? A giant "slough-like" lake to swin in. Ha! Ha!
Well, why not bring out your inner mermaid and throw a fun under the seas party for the kids. Get a pool, som great treats and have a water fight... Now that sounds like fun on these hot, summer days.Pin It

Hot! Hot! Hot!
Wow! We are having a hot spell here and I am sort of loving it. If you've followed our bloggy and our "Lissy in Italy" bloggy you'd know we were living for a while in Italy where it is super HOT HOT HOT! People can't believe that this is late spring weather for me (but drier of course). And yes I survived it with 2 tiny babies and having to walk half an hour there and back for groceries everyday.
I was thinking, what a great opportunity to keep the wee ones busy AND entertained with a Luau party or a Flamingo party. Get out your tropical attire or bathing suits, some sprinklers or a kiddie pool and some fruit and slurpee drinks. Here's a little inspirations for you:
I'm sure not everyone has air conditioning so why not make the most of our summer and have some fun before we head back into -30 some degrees (I live in Canada and yes, we get a few of those really cold days.)
Let the kids make their own fruit kabobs:
Or how about frozen watermelon pops... it's the easiest treat I can think of! Slice up some watermelon, add a stick and pop it in the freezer for a hot afternoon snack!
Set out a veggie tray. I bet if the other kids are eating a veggie your kids normally won't try, then they will give it a shot! It worked for my kids at their playschool parties.
Get out the slip and slide, or if you don't have one, I hear a tarp and some running water works too. It's a great way to stay cool in this hot weather. Aloha!!!

We Love our Customers!
We recently received a wonderful little photo from a client of ours with a little thank you for her order. We ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY Love to hear back from our customers and how they thought the process went.
We really (or should I say me, myself and I as that's who works in this little company) strive to provide great customer service while making the process of online ordering quick and painless. I too understand the scarey feeling people get when they make their FIRST (and sometimes their tenth) purchase online.... it's scary! I mean, there is no face to go with the order. You don't "talk" directly to who you are buying the product from... it's all emailed baby. That can be a big leap of faith for some people including myself. I have been extremely fortunate in my internet purchases (pretty much just on Etsy) and have had trouble only once. I did get my money returned though.
So if you are interested in anything in the shop and haven't made any purchases online before, don't be afraid to send me a convo or email, I'd be happy to answer your questions or check out our FAQ section as well. We tried to cover all bases there too.
So I bet I have you waiting to see the super cute picture I was sent hey? Here it is! We designed the cupcake toppers for her "Cat in the Hat" inspired birthday. Thank you again for sending it to us!
Send us your photos! We'd love to see them!

New baby girl announcement in the shop!
We've added a sweet little announcement to the shop.... and she's kinda shabby chic I think!
I designed this invite for a friend of mine who recently had a baby and I thought something girly with bright pops of colour was just the look to go with. Isn't it adorable?

A Whirlwind of Birthdays
Whew! The weekend is over and I'm pooped this Monday morning!
This weekend was birthday party central in our house. My Grandma Ruby had her birthday party on March 17th and mine was on the 18th. We have always celebrated our birthdays together and I've always loved that so the few years we lived in Italy were sort of sad. I really missed having our birthdays together. So this year was awesome!!! The girls had to dress up in their best GREEN duds for St. Patrick's Day complete with St. Patty's bows and barrets. There was going to be no pinching going on here!
Turns out it is Auntie Edna's birthday in a few days as well so we really had some celebrating going on. Auntie Elaine and Uncle Larry showed up to surprise Grandma as well.
We even lucked out as Grandma's neighbour Wanita just had a new baby miniature goat born on Wednesday evening so we had to finish off the festivities by stopping by her house on the way home to see this little guy. Isabella loved picking it up but Sofia was just happy petting it a little. He was just the cutest little thing!
It was an awesome birthday filled weekend!

Isabella's Rapunzel Party
Well, we sure had a busy weekend. Our oldest daughter just turned 5! Yes 5 years old. Oh where has the time gone? It seems like only yesterday my husband was driving me to Emergency in his tour bus.... yes you all heard (or read) me correctly... a TOUR BUS of all things!
Hubby was supposed to leave early in the morning for a tour and Isabella decided she didn't feel she needed to stay in there any longer (3 weeks early as a matter of fact). Since my hubby was supposed to leave really early, we had gone to leave the car at the garage and get the bus. Those were the only wheels we had to drive!Off we went. Well did we get some worried looks when we pulled up to the door. I think they were super happy to see it was only little old me in there as it was midnight by now.
So that was our excitement for Isabella's birth. Did I mention she even got to ride in an ambulance a week after she was born too? Yep, momma here had to go back to the hospital and as hubby was away working, I had to find some sort of a chauffeur!Oh what a story she has to tell.
So anyways, I thought I would share some cute printables and party decorations we had for Miss Bella's party.Bella wanted a princess party and as we just got the Tangled movie for Christmas, Rapunzel was her princess of choice. It was a cute little party and everyone had a lot of fun. Can't wait till our next party... Oh yeah, that's next weekend for Grandma Ruby and myself! Grandma needs a St. Patty's Day theme for her birthday and mine, well, I'll just be happy with some sort of sweets and celebrating it again this year with Grandma! That's always been my favorite present for my birthday... celebrating with my grandma!
